Since 1897, the Job Haines Home has been committed to providing exceptional care at an affordable cost to seniors 65 and older. In 1902, the Job Haines Home erected one of the nation’s first facilities designed specifically for senior living. The new Home realized the goals of compassionate care, individual expression and freedom of choice. From the beginning, residents were encouraged to make our residence their home.

Hearthside Commons continues this tradition of providing the highest quality care at affordable pricing in an elegant and beautiful Assisted Living Residence. The assisted living idea, which combines supportive services that respect the resident’s individual ability with care that increases as the need increases, is in keeping with the 100-year tradition and philosophy of the Job Haines Home. In addition to our basic services, tiers of health care services are available to meet the residents’ individual needs as they change, enabling residents to remain at Hearthside Commons and age in place. Unlike many other assisted living communities, Hearthside Commons offers a resident continuing care in our Skilled Nursing Facility.

ASSISTED LIVING

A REMARKABLE NEW CHAPTER IN ASSISTED LIVING: HEARTHSIDE COMMONS AT THE JOB HAINES HOME

The Job Haines Home has been a pioneer in the concept of “assisted living,” even before that term came into popular use. From our beginnings over a century ago, we have been dedicated to the independence, dignity and well-being of each resident.

With the opening of Hearthside Commons in 2000, assisted living has taken a dramatic step into the future while preserving the values and caring traditions that have governed our facility since its founding.

Sixty-three units featuring studio and one-bedroom apartments offer private baths and kitchenettes. Hearthside Commons residents are able to enjoy the optimal combination of both personal privacy and communal living.

Each apartment offers a bright, sun-filled environment with safety features, comfort and convenience. Standard with each residence are the following amenities and services:

• Custom window treatments
• Wall-to-wall carpeting
• Private bathrooms with walk-in shower
• Kitchenettes with refrigerator and microwave oven
• Cable TV
• Emergency response system
• Enclosed landscaped patio and courtyard

Each resident enjoys restaurant-style dining with three expertly prepared meals daily in a beautifully appointed dining room. Residents are offered a variety of entrees at each meal to meet individual tastes and preferences. In addition, snacks and beverages are available throughout the day. There is a beauty salon and a barber shop on site. A Registered Nurse and a staff of personal care attendants are available 24 hours a day to provide assistance as needed, including medication administration.

A full schedule of daily recreational programs is available to all residents, including concerts, trips, shopping excursions, religious services and group activities. Transportation to off-site programs is provided by our own van service.

And so, after more than a century of service, the heart of compassion and care that has long distinguished the Job Haines Home continues to beat as strongly as ever. Only the body is new.

SUB-ACUTE & LONG TERM CARE

WHEN GREATER CARE IS NEEDED, WE PROVIDE IT:
SKILLED NURSING AND SUB-ACUTE CARE AT THE JOB HAINES HOME

Our Sub-acute Programs

A new program for individuals requiring nursing care on a short-term basis is housed within our Skilled Nursing Residence. The Sub-acute, or short stay program, is designed for individuals who are recovering from an injury, stroke or surgery, or are undergoing physical rehabilitation. Individuals can reside at Job Haines during their convalescence and recovery, then return home or into assisted living when they are able. The skilled staff can provide wound care and other specialized services such as IVs, physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Our Skilled Nursing Program

For those residents in need of more long-term nursing care, the Skilled Nursing Residence provides highly skilled care while preserving their dignity, independence and individuality within a specialized facility.

Our 30-bed facility is both Medicare and Medicaid certified as well as Hospice affiliated. The fully carpeted Nursing Residence provides tastefully furnished bedrooms with individual climate control, cable television service, a spacious and elegantly appointed Dining Room, a Beauty and Barber Salon and a shower and therapeutic whirlpool bathing suite.

An activity area, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, provides residents with ample space to participate in the events incorporated into our active social calendar, including religious observations, entertainment, group activities, etc. Our van provides residents with the opportunity to go on trips to the local attractions.

We strive for optimal resident care by maintaining a close ratio of staff to residents, a strong sense of teamwork, and an experienced staff dedicated to providing personalized care in both sub-acute and long term care settings. At just 30 beds, our Skilled Nursing Residence is both small and intimate. We get to know each patient very well and take care of them as we ourselves would want to be taken care of.

Like our assisted living community, the Skilled Nursing Residence at Job Haines is beautifully furnished and has its own landscaped courtyard. A wide range of activities is provided, including entertainment, religious services and group activities.

In addition to skilled nursing, Job Haines offers on-site rehabilitation, including physical, occupational and speech therapy.
