Having earned the title of senior isn't about how old you are; it's about respecting life. It's about freedom...freedom from work, raising a family, owning a home or saving for your future. Your future is today. Finally, you can focus on taking care of yourself.
Part of taking care of yourself involves your lifestyle and where you live. Simplifying life means different things to different people and that's why The House of the Good Shepherd offers a casual living community with a variety of living options geared toward senior preferences.
The best way to see if this lifestyle is right for you or a loved one is to judge it for yourself. The House is located on a secured 15-acre park-like setting bordered by the Musconetcong River and the Stephens State Park. The eco-friendly village is nestled unobtrusively off county route 604 at the north edge of Hackettstown, just minutes away from I-80. You can schedule an appointment by calling (908) 684-5900 or you can stop by before 5 p.m. on weekdays.
Committed to comfort, details and good living, we think you'll like what's happening at The House of the Good Shepherd. Come see us soon.
Five Episcopal Congregations in the Oranges founded The House of the Good Shepherd in 1882. A 20-room rental home launched our humble beginnings. By 1890, a new home was built on Henry Street and housed 36 women until the 1960's. In 1966, we purchased a wooded, 15-acre site which afforded us room to grow. Located in Hackettstown, bordered by the Musconetcong River and Stephens State Park, our retirement community inspires a natural serenity.
The House of the Good Shepherd offers 175 residences with a variety of life enrichment and healthcare options so seniors will always have a place to call home...from independent apartments, cottage homes, assisted living suites to skilled nursing residences. There's something for everyone.
