Preakness Healthcare Center (PHC) is a 406 bed not-for-profit nursing facility with sites located in both Haledon and Wayne PHC provides skilled nursing care to all its residents, and the services provided by the healthcare center address the needs of residents requiring both long-term and short-term stays. Preakness Healthcare Center ranks as one of the largest nursing facilities in the state of New Jersey, and is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Subacute Care - As a temporary bridge between the acute care hospital and home, Preakness offers a sub-acute program where the emphasis is on rehabilitation and returning the individual to the community.
Nursing Services Specialties - Wound Care, Tube Feeding, Oxygen Therapy, Intravenous, Partial Parenteral Nutrition.
Neurological Disorders - Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebrovascular Accidents (Stroke), Parkinson's Disease. Our care for adults with MS has earned recognition from the Greater North Jersey Chapter of the National MS Society.
Respiratory/Pulmonary Care Services - Tracheostomy Management and Weaning, Non-invasive ventilation (BIPAP, CPAP) and COPD Management.
Hospice and Palliative Care - Preakness Healthcare Center provides for families interested in a holistic and supportive approach to the end stage of life.
Alzheimer's Care - An in-depth, sensitive approach for residents and their families who are coping with many types of dementia including Alzheimer's disease. A dementia support group is offered for caregivers and is affiliated with the Northern New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
Mental Health Services - A geriatric-psychiatric program with specially trained staff who are skilled in addressing the needs of the mental health resident.
Respite Care - For the caregiver who needs a break from the daily responsibilities of caring for a loved one at home, Preakness offers short term Respite Care for stays of a maximum of two weeks.
